Supporting Individuals and Families Throughout the Crystal Coast
Nurse Care of North Carolina, an Arosa+LivHOME company, announced the acquisition of Companion & Home Care, a home care company based in Emerald Isle, NC. This expanded presence further supports the eastern coast and becomes its fifth office in North Carolina.
“Previously, Nurse Care of North Carolina served the Emerald Isle/Morehead City residents from our office in Greenville,” says Stephen Kulawiak, General Manager – Wake County and Eastern North Carolina. “The acquisition of Companion & Home Care gives us a local presence with a leader and a trusted member of the community in Amy Lock.”
A home care company, such as Nurse Care of North Carolina, prioritizes health and safety, focusing on the activities of daily living (ADLs) and the instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs). Families who care for a loved one can receive help with activities such as bathing, eating, shopping, companionship, light housekeeping, and transportation.
“Nurse Care of North Carolina supports our desire to offer more services to our community,” says Amy Lock, founder of Companion & Home Care. “We now have the resources to help us attract, train, retain, and treasure the best care professionals in our area.”
From Care Recipient to Care Provider
Amy Lock understands the challenges of recovering from an injury and being disabled. In 2005, she sustained a serious neck injury that left her functionally disabled for several years.
“Being unable to lift a glass of water, much less cook for myself, clean my house or even open a door was simultaneously humbling and eye-opening,” says Lock. “As hard as it was for me to accept help when offered, it was even harder for me to ask for it.”
In addition to her own circumstance, Lock understands the importance of finding care for a loved one in need. She supported her mother during an extended illness from 2010 to 2011, and with the help of family, has cared for her father since 2015.
“Amy’s personal experiences have shaped the manner in which she recruited and retained caregivers and served clients of the Crystal Coast,” says Cyril Vergis, COO of Arosa+LivHOME. “We are thrilled to welcome Amy and her treasured caregivers to our family while providing the opportunity to expand our impact on the Eastern Seaboard of North Carolina.”
Nurse Care of North Carolina now operates in five offices across North Carolina: Durham, Raleigh, Greensboro, Greenville, and Emerald Isle.
